The governing building code for this project is the 2000 IBC as adopted and locally amended by the City of Tucson. Please revise code references to the governing code. See red lines. Sheet A-0 1. Provide the total occupant load for the mezzanine level including the existing area and proposed expansion. Ref. IBC 1003.2.2. 2. Please clarify provisions for meeting mezzanine egress requirements. Ref. IBC 1003.2.2.8. STRUCTURAL COMMENTS General 1. Please update Structural Calculations and Plans to reflect 2000 IBC - the current Building Code per City of Tucson. Provide a lateral design based upon IBC forces per Sections 1615, 1617, and 1622. Then address load combinations in compliance with IBC 1605.3 and 1617.1 where seismic loads are governing. There is no applicable 2001 UBC as stated per submitted plans and calculations. 2. Provide Architectural Cross Sections, Elevations and Details for reference to indicate height of the proposed platform and type of material. Provide additional Structural Detailing where new elements are attached to existing structure - columns/foundations. 3. If computer program is intended to be used for design of steel frames, please complete Calculation Package including input design data - frame geometry, elements number, restrain, input of all imposed loads and load combinations. Coordinate with General Comment #1 above for compliance with 2000 IBC. Sheet SD0 1. Coordinate with General Comment #1 and update Seismic Design Load Notes given on plan. Ref. IBC 1603.1.5 for the information needed to be addressed and complete. 2. Add to the list of Special Inspections, high strength bolts as used. Ref. IBC 1704.3.3. 3. Clarify type of lateral resisting system of the Platform in longitudinal and transverse directions and specifically address design of frame columns in both directions. Recheck frame reactions from the applicable loads and complete design including steel column base plates, not shown on plan and anchor bolt connection per IBC 1912. ELECTRICAL COMMENTS General 1. No electrical drawings have been provided with the construction documents. Provide the complete electrical design or clearly note on the plan that all equipment installation, power and lighting will be by separate permit. |
