04/12/2004 | Doug Williams | ENGINEERING | REVIEW | Denied | SUBJECT: Southwest Ambulance REVIEWER: Doug Williams DATE: 22 April 2004 ACTIVITY NUMBER: T03BU01259-R SUMMARY: Engineering Division has reviewed the "As Built" Grading plans received on 25 March 2004. A field visit to the site revealed finished construction dimensions that do not coincide with the revised plans. Approval is not recommended at this time. Please address the following comments: 1. The sealant of the grading plan submitted is the responsible party for the information contained on the plan. Please remove or revise the "AS Built" revision (note 1) language on the bottom, center of each sheet. 2. The detention basin configuration does not match the approved basin dimensions, as depicted on the plans. Additional basin excavation is necessary in order to meet the minimum basin dimensions approved. Attention should be given to the dimensioning provided in the Retention/Detention Basin Outlet Weir Section 1, and the basin dimensions depicted on sheet 2 of 2. Ensure a minimum 12' bottom width, an accurate top of basin width and elevation with appropriate slopes and configurations at the north- and southwest corners is constructed and depicted on the plan. The top of basin elevation and slope stabilization at the southwest corner are of particular concern. Provide "as-built" spot elevations demonstrating proper construction, and provide slope information with compaction recommendation, prior to resubmittal. 3. Provide accurate dimensioning and labeling for the drainage channel detail on sheet 1. 4. The 70' vertical containment curb (note 4) does not appear to have been constructed. Please ensure all work is complete prior to requesting grading inspections. 5. Identify all riprap average diameters, and specify whether on filter fabric, if installed. 6. The east basin appears to be rendered partly ineffective due to the installation of the water valve at the northeast corner. Provide "as-built" elevations for the top of the water valve cover, in addition to periodic top of basin spot elevations, demonstrating containment of detained flows. 7. Correct the as built dimensions provided for the east basin inlet at the southeast corner of the site. 8. Additional minor excavation appears necessary at this location, to achieve the approved basin bottom width/elevation. Please address all of the above comments prior to resubmittal. Resubmittal shall include a revised Grading, Paving, and Drainage Plan. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 791-5550, extension 1189 or Dwillia1@ci.tucson.az.us.
