Every room or space that is an assembly occupancy shall have the occupant load of the room or space posted in a conspicuous place, near the main exit or exit access doorway from the room or space. Posted signs shall be of an approved legible permanent design and shall be maintained by the owner or authorized agent. 1003.3.1.8 Locks and latches. Egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. (NOTE ON THE PLANS) Exception: 2. In buildings in occupancy Group A having an occupant load of 300 or less, Groups B, F, M, and S, and in churches, the main exterior door or doors is permitted to be equipped with key-operated locking devices from the egress side provided: 2.1. The locking device is readily distinguishable as locked, 2.1. A readily visible durable sign is posted on the egress side on or adjacent to the door stating: THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. The sign shall be in letters 1 inch high on a contrasting back-ground. 2.3. The use of the key-operated locking device is revokable by the building official for due cause. Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 90 minutes in case of primary power loss, the exit signs shall be connected to an emergency electrical system provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with the ICC Electrical Code. EXCEPTION: Approved exit signs that provide continuous illumination independent of external power sources for a duration of not less than 90 minutes, in case of primary power loss, are not required to be connected to an emergency electrical system. §1003.2.11 Means of egress illumination. The means of egress, including the exit discharge, shall be illuminated at all times the building space served by the means of egress is occupied. §1003.2.11.1 Illumination level. The means of egress illumination level shall not be less than 1 foot-candle (11 lux) at the floor level. §1003.2.11.2 Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premise's electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, an emergency system shall automatically illuminate all of the following areas: 1. Interior exit discharge elements, as permitted in §1006.1, in buildings required to have two or more exits. 2. The portion of the exterior exit discharge immediately adjacent to exit discharge doorways in buildings required to have two or more exits. The emergency power system shall provide power for a duration of not less than 90 minutes and shall consist of storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with the ICC Electrical Code. PIMA COUNTY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES 201 N. Stone Av. 1st. Emergency lighting facilities shall be arranged to provide initial illumination that is at least an average of 1 foot-candle (11 lux) and a minimum at any point of 0.1 foot-candle (1 lux) measured along the path of egress at floor level. Illumination levels shall be permitted to decline to 0.6 foot-candle (6 lux) average and a minimum at any point of 0.06 foot-candle (0.6 lux) at the end of the emergency lighting time duration. A maximum- to-minimum illumination uniformity ratio of 40 to 1 shall not be exceeded. Provide a soils report. §1802.1 General. Foundation and soils investigations shall be conducted in conformance with §1802.2 through §1802.6. Where required by the building official, the classification and investigation of the soil shall be made by a registered design professional. Provide a code analysis on the plans. 1704.4 Concrete Construction. Special inspection is required for concrete where design f'c > 2500 psi. Sec. 1701.5. Post Tensioned Foundation System and Concrete requires special inspection by an Arizona licensed engineer prior to final inspection. 1704.7 Earth Work. (IF REQUIRED BY THE SOILS ENGINEER) Special Grading, Excavation and Filling Inspection is required by an Arizona licensed engineer prior to final inspections. During earth-work excavations, grading and filling operations inspection to satisfy requirements of the Soils Report. A SPECIAL INSPECTION CERTIFICATE is required to be completed and signed by the Owner and Engineer responsible for carrying out the required special inspections prior to obtaining a building permit.
