Also, shear angles, tension plates, hairpins and any other embedded material in the concrete shall be designed by the engineer of record. Provide complete structural calculations for design of the foundation system. Provide complete specifications on the plans for all structural materials used in the foundation system. 1704.3.3 High-Strength Bolts. Special inspection is required for the installation of high strength bolts. 1704.3.2. Steel Frame Construction -- Details. Special inspection is required for steel frame to verify compliance with the details shown on the approved construction documents, such as bracing, stiffening elements, member locations and proper application of joint details at each connection. A SPECIAL INSPECTION CERTIFICATE, furnished by the City of Tucson is required to be completed and signed by the Owner and Engineer responsible for carrying out the required special inspections prior to obtaining a building permit.
