GENERAL COMMENTS


MINIMUM PLUMBING FACILITIES:

2902.1 Minimum number of fixtures. Plumbing fixtures shall be provided for the type of occupancy and in the minimum number shown in Table 2902.1. Types of occupancies not shown in Table 2902.1 shall be considered individually by the building official. The number of occupants shall be determined by this code. Occupancy classification shall be determined in
accordance with Chapter 3. Provide one rest room that is handicapped accessible.

1101.2. Design. Buildings and facilities shall be designed and constructed to be accessible in accordance with Chapter 11 of the 2000 International Building Code and ICC/ANSI A117.1-1998 Code. Provide completely dimensioned plans and details showing compliance with the accessibility requirements.

The International Building Code 2000 is the current approved code for design in Pima County, City of Tucson and surrounding areas. Design by the 1994 UBC was optional until July 31, 2001 after which time all plans submitted for permit must comply with the 2000 International Building Code. The 1997 UBC has never been adopted by this jurisdiction.

In lieu of complying with the 2000 IBC calculations may be submitted substantiating that the structures were designed using higher design loads then required by the 2000 IBC.

1704.3 Steel Construction. Special inspection is required for all field welded connections.

1704.3.3 High-Strength Bolts. Special inspection is required for the installation of high strength bolts.

1704.4 Concrete Construction. Special inspection is required for concrete where design
f'c > 2500 psi.

Table 1704.4 Concrete Anchor Bolts. Special inspection is required prior to and during placement of concrete anchor bolts where allowable loads have been increased per Sec. 1912.5.

Special inspection is required by an Arizona licensed engineer for Placement of Reinforcing Steel in the foundation prior to final inspection.

1704.7 Earth Work. Special Inspection by an Arizona licensed engineer is required during Earth Work Grading, Excavation, Filling operations and compaction tests to satisfy requirements of the Soils Report.

A SPECIAL INSPECTION CERTIFICATE, furnished by the City of Tucson is required to be completed and signed by the Owner and Engineer responsible for carrying out the required special inspections prior to obtaining a building permit. Please note that the Owner or his Legal Agent must also sign the Special Inspection Certificate.
