08/30/2002 RANDY SCHULER ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied GENERAL COMMENT
1) Due to the nature and complexity of this project and in accordance with the proficiency requirements found in the State Board of Technical Registration Rules, an Electrical Engineer registered in Arizona will be required to prepare and seal this design. See SBTR Article 3. "Regulatory Provisions", R4-30-301. "Rules of Professional Conduct", Section B. 2 a. and b. and R4-30-301 Section B. 3..
2) All comments below are typical for both the 2 and 3 bedroom units unless otherwise
noted
3) The utility requires a multi-meter pack which only necessitates 1 service lateral. Provide a complete design. Include all relevant details such as, component short circuit current rating, fault current analysis, load calculations, conduit and conductor sizes and types, and the proposed routing to each apartment sub panel. In addition, this design as submitted requires the sub panel, dryer, AC, and electric furnace to be routed from the main service location to each of the respective apartment sub panels. This methodology will require multiple conduits run underground (to avoid fire wall penetrations) to each apartment. Finally the design requires the occupant to travel to 2 locations in order to disconnect all power from the unit.
4) The load calculations indicate the furnace load is 11.2kW (14kW - HP load) or 48.7 amps. 99NEC 424-3(b) requires the load be calculated at 125% for branch circuit sizing. The 30 amp circuit provided appears to be inadequate.
5) Except for the range, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator and disposal, all utilization equipment is required to be hardwired. In addition a disconnect is required. The disconnects must be located such that the working clearances (required by 99NEC 110-26) are clearly shown on the plan. See 99NEC 422-16,31, and 35.
6) 99NEC 220-30(a) will not allow the optional calculation to be utilized for the feeder serving the sub panels. The optional calculation requires all of the load be connected to a single feeder or service entrance conductor.
7) The sub panel in the 2 bedroom unit is located in the firewall. A firewall membrane penetration cannot exceed 16 in2 . See 2000 IBC 711.3.2.
8) ARC Fault Circuit Interrupter(s) are required for all bedroom receptacles. See 99NEC 210-12

9) Provide the conductor type, quantity, and size for the range circuit. Note: #8 copper 3 conductor with ground minimum is required.
10) It appears an additional receptacle is required adjacent to the fixed slider in bedroom 2 of the 2 bedroom plan. 99NEC 210-52(a)(1)(2).
11) 99NEC 210-11(c)(1), and 210-52(b) require a 20 amp circuit for the dining room receptacles. See circuit A-13
12) In the 3 bedroom circuit 19 serves bedroom #3 receptacles not bathroom #3 receptacles.
