| 12/18/2000 | RANDY SCHULER | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | Third Review E-1 1) Please clarify if the Listing of the 100 amp panel will allow the installation of a 100 amp subfeed breaker. My experience has been that the largest size subfeed breaker allowed by the manufacturer is significantly smaller than the main. See 99NEC 110-3(b) requiring conformance with the listing and labeling of electrical equipment. New Comment: I will note on the plan that the panel must be Listed/Labeled and utilized in accordance with its Listing. 2) The conduit depths depicted on the plan are incorrect. New Comment: OK. Although 99NEC table 305 requires a minimum of 24" to the top of the conduit and TEP SR 209 prefers depths of up to 36". 3) Plan sheets C-1 and C-2 indicate a 2.5" PVC conduit as the feeder to the power cabinet, page E-1 indicates a 1.25" RGS. In addition if PVC is utilized it must be schedule 80. I would also recommend that the PVC be painted with a latex paint to preclude the UV degradation of the conduit. New Comment: Page E-1 calls out 2.5" EMT, pages C-1 and C-2 call out 2.5" PVC. 4) The services must be grouped together or provide justification for the 2nd service through 99NEC 230-2. Please note if the NEC will allow for the 2nd service provide placards and a common grounding electrode system. See 99NEC 230-2(e) and 250-58. New Comment: Not addressed. NEW COMMENTS AS A RESULT OF THIRD REVIEW. E-1 1) The trench detail includes an EMT conduit underground. In order to use EMT underground it must be Listed for that application. Please clarify this on the plan. In practice due to our corrosive soil here in Tucson EMT is not installed directly in contact with the earth. 2) I would recommend that any portion of the plan containing electrical requirements be reviewed and sealed by the Electrical Engineer. This will insure the plan meets the minimum NEC requirements and that the design is consistent throughout. |
