City of Tucson - Environmental and General Services Department >>> Thomas Ryan 9/7/2017 1:58 PM >>> Chuck, The City of Tucson - Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) has reviewed the additional information submitted for the 8th Avenue Lofts property located at 1350 S. 8th Avenue in Tucson. A floor area of 12,770 square feet for the multi-family units results in the need for 4.6 cubic yards of storage capacity for refuse and recycling materials (servicing once per week). Republic Services will provide weekly service using one 3 cubic yard container for refuse and one 3 cubic yard container for recycling materials. The existing waste enclosure is 15 feet by 16.5 feet which is smaller than the double container enclosure specified in Section 8 of the City of Tucson Technical Standards Manual. Both the refuse container and the recycling materials container will be rolled to the adjacent alley for servicing by the refuse vehicle. As we discussed, a larger enclosure would eliminate one parking space which would eliminate one of the proposed six new residential units. Given the site space constraints, EGSD approves use of the existing enclosure for management of refuse and recycling materials at the 8th Avenue Lofts property.
