Zoning cannot support the request to modify the parking space striping that is proposed in the Development Package D14-0018 for the parking lot at the Wal-mart at 7160 E. Speedway Blvd. Based on the attachment, the parking lot was milled and a new overlay applied and yet the development package indicates new landscape islands and re-striping. It is not clear whether or not the re-striping plan was done based on an old approved plan or based on the standard that is used by the applicant on stores throughout the country. The standards used by the applicant throughout the country do not meet the minimum requirements as noted in the COT Unified Development Code. In reviewing the plans to make a decision on the PDMR it was noted that the existing landscape islands are being removed and new ones added. Also the PAALs are wider than required by the UDC and can be reduced to meet the parking spaces requirements. The new plans depicts new landscape islands which means that the existing conditions as noted in the attachment will be changed based on the new site plan.
