Stone Avenue, the waste stream calculations show that 235 gallons of refuse and recycling materials will be generated each week. Per Tech Standard 8, this would require that metal containers be provided for waste disposal service. The applicant is proposing that two 95 gallon APCs be provided for refuse and one 95 gallon APC be provided for recycling materials in place of the metal containers. The APCs would be placed on the west side of the building complex. The metal containers would require the construction of an enclosure for the containers and would eliminate five parking spaces on the west side of the building. The distance from the proposed APCs to the curb for servicing is approximately 40 feet. The 601 N. Stone Avenue parcel is within the Infill Incentive District in Tucson and, as such, Environmental Services (ES) can modify the container standards if no public health or traffic safety issue is created. Based on our review of this proposal, no public health or traffic safety issue is created and ES approves the proposed waste disposal containers (APCs) and storage location on the 601 N. Stone Avenue property. Please let me know if there are any questions concerning this approval. Thomas G. Ryan, P. E. City of Tucson - Environmental Services |
