11/21/2022 Signs REQUIRES RESUBMIT RE: freestanding and access point sign review
For: 2290 E Speedway Bl / law offices
Permit: TS-PRM-1122-00026

Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC), Sign Standards 7A

1. Provide permit application: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/integrated-planning/pdsd/Sign_permit_application_2022.pdf

2. The proposed signage is considered "freestanding" as it is not shown on a building. The location may have 1 freestanding sign, located on the existing site wall; it is the setback and type of sign that will need to be clarified here.

3. If the setback from Speedway curb to the face of this wall is less than 20 feet, then you may proceed with a low-profile freestanding sign design.

4. For a low-profile sign design, provide a 2 foot vertical clearance from the ground under the bottom of the lowest sign lettering. The maximum sign area for this sign can be 60 square feet (combine sign A and B into one sign notation, as it's not necessary to separate).

5. The minimum setback for the low-profile sign is 2 x the height of the sign lettering (i.e. 4' tall sign = 8 setback from face of Speedway street curb to wall / sign).

6. While a separate freestanding sign is not permitted on a local street when a freestanding sign is shown on the arterial (Speedway), you may make the sign on Wilson to be a directional sign. Note sign type as such on the plan and provide 10' setback from street curb to wall/sign - and max sign area for this site is 6 square feet (less than an acre) for an "access point sign".

7. This location is within the Sam Hughes National Historic District and the building is a contributing structure. Staff is connecting with the historic division to inquire if a historic review on behalf of the State of Arizona (the entity that works with this level of historic) is required and if so, can be performed by our staff.
