1. UDC: Request is shown to remove existing nonconforming pole sign cabinet and replace with smaller cabinetry on same support pole, reducing the resulting sign in height from 28 feet tall down to 20 (twenty) feet in height (revised from original submittal).
A) The prior use was also a restaurant. A change of copy is allowed on this nonconforming pole sign cabinet. Otherwise, proposal to replace cabinetry with new and use same support requires review under the Sign Design Option process, as the resulting sign would still not meet the Sign Standards of UDC 7A.
B) It is understood the sign design option review case has been submitted. The sign design option package will be reviewed to: 7A.7.1. E and G, and to meet the purpose of the sign standards and the purpose of the master sign program criteria.
C) To clarify, the sign area of 45 square feet on two cabinet components is within code allowance for a freestanding sign of any category size.
The following items require variation review, under UDC 7A.10.2.B and C. of the Sign Standards for the sign design option review:
• Increased height sign at 20’ tall height versus 12’ allowed for a pole sign
• Setbacks for a pole sign at less than 30’ – at 27’ proposed from face of curb
• To have a pole sign at a premise with less than 225’ of street lot line frontage
