10/16/2023 | Signs | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | RE: sign review (2nd review) For: new wall signs, new freestanding sign, new directional signs AT: Mister Carwash / 2975 S Kino PW Sign permit: TS-PRM-0923-00501 Reviewer: H. Thrall Date: 10/16/23 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC), 7A Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC), Tucson- Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018 1. UDC - the wall signage and directional signage meet code, thank you. A) Freestanding sign is a pole sized sign, needs 30’ setback from Campbell Av to leading edge of the sign. Tho a note is on the plan, the site plan is not to scale at 1:20 and the actual measurement for the position of the sign is 23 feet. It is not clear that the sign setback is possible at this spot due to the retention/detention area east of the sign. B) The permit application has incorrect sign valuations, please consult the contracting team and update. C) The permit application and elevation diagram need to have the sign area for the sign. I see the structural surface area listed. Please update. 2. NEC: a) Label shut off switch location for pole sign 3. OLC: Resubmitted package contains a sheet from Dualite. It has lighting notations that differ from your plan notation of 4400k max color temp for all sign lighting. Please confirm with Dualite that they will manufacture to Tucson code and provide a document from them (email / letter is fine). (It’s likely this is a general shop spec for other locations outside of Arizona.) 4. IBC: a) The use of high strength bolts for the pole sign needs a special inspection. Staff has provide the special inspection form for your engineer to sign and appoint qualified special inspector. b) Clarify how the letters and logo are mounted to the freestanding sign cabinetry –(bolts with spacers?) c) Add note how freestanding cladding is mounted to the cabinetry, to the support pole and to the masonry base (i.e. rivets, etc.) I may be reached at Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov if you have any questions. Thank you. Email me when resubmitted and I’ll pull the resubmitted package for prompt review. |
