| 09/29/2025 | Design Review Standard | APPROVED | Per PC Historic- Courtney Rose approved this sign through the annexation agreement on this site. Here are her comments: A member of the Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission (TPCHC) Plans Review Subcommittee, Andrew Christopher, assisted us in reviewing the proposed signs. The review concluded in a recommendation for approval with conditions. The following analysis and conditions were provided by Commissioner Christopher. The proposed signage complies with the dimensional and design standards for Historic Districts as defined in this section (UDC 7A11.1). This recommendation is based on UDC 7A11.1(C) which states "[...]The sign shall be appropriately sized, result in minimal damage to historic fabric, and avoid adverse effects on qualities that make a building eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The Secretary of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation which states "Some exterior and interior alterations to a historic building are generally needed as part of a Rehabilitation project to ensure its continued use, but it is most important that such alterations do not radically change, obscure, or destroy character-defining spaces, materials, features, or finishes". The following conditions apply to the approval: All new embedded anchors are to be non-corrosive and should be placed only in the mortar joints to prevent damage to any exposed adobe brick. All anchors made obsolete by removal of the existing wall sign (Elevation B) shall be carefully removed and patched with compatible matching materials. |
