Parsons (robert.parsons@tucsonaz.gov) CODES: Unified Development Code 7A Sign Standards (UDC), National Electrical Code 600 (NEC), Tucson – Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code 2018 (IBC). 1. UDC: A. The current use of this property is a youth center which is a non-residential use in the R2 zone. A non-residential use in the R2 zone can have sign area of 100 square feet, but the freestanding sign is limited to 32 square feet. The proposed monument sign alone is 53.5 square feet as measured from your plans. B. For zoning purposes, the wall where your proposed monument sign is being located can only be 6’ tall. Please locate the monument sign separately from the wall or only construct the height of the wall to the allowed 6’ height. C. For the monument sign, please dimension the setback from the curb to the wall on both Park Ave and 34th Street. 2. OLC: A. Outdoor Lighting Code has been addressed. Thank you. 3. IBC: A. Please clarify material being used to construct the letters for the wall sign. B. Is this building being refurbished? If not, please use a current photo for your wall sign drawing. C. Please clarify how the letters in the monument sign are being mounted to the cabinet. Your description and side view do not match. D. Please specify how the lockout box is being mounted. E. Please indicate weep holes present at the base of the cabinet. F. Please clarify if the welds are all shop welds and no field welds will occur. G. Note, a separate electrical permit will be required to get power to the monument sign. Depending on revisions submitted, further review comments may be forthcoming.
