09/07/2023 | Signs | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | RE: Installation of 3 illuminated wall signs and 1 monument sign FOR: Fry’s Fuel #58 AT: 4733 S. Campbell Ave. Tucson, AZ 85714 Zoned C-2 (3 to 1 sign ratio) PERMIT: TS-PRM-0823-00446 DATE: 9/7/2023 (2nd Review) REVIEWER: H. Thrall (heather.thrall@tucsonaz.gov) R. Parsons (robert.parsons@tucsonaz.gov) CODES: Unified Development Code 7A Sign Standards (UDC), National Electrical Code 600 (NEC), Tucson – Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code 2018 (IBC). 1. UDC: (Per 7A10.2, B, & C) A. Comment not addressed. TEP has a 10’ utility easement on side of road where monument sign is proposed. Contact TEP (designservices@TEP.com) for permission to place the sign within their easement. See attached development package sheet for reference both visible on PRO and your TDC online portal. B. Your site visibility triangle is incorrect for Tucson standards. The development package has the correct site visibility triangle. Please reference and add sheet to your sign package. C. Comment not addressed. Please provide aerial photo (i.e. google earth is fine) of the entire shopping center with street frontage on Campbell Ave. dimensioned from the North property line of the Arco station lot to the North property line of this parcel. (For the permit record, it needs to be clear sufficient street frontage is available for the number of freestanding signs proposed along the Campbell frontage for this shopping center. The Arco station is not part of this shopping center.) D. Comment not addressed. On aerial, show location of existing shopping center sign on Campbell Ave. 2. NEC: All comments addressed. Thank you. 3. OLC: (Ch. 4 & 5) All comments addressed. Thank you. 4. IBC: A. While we acknowledge the prior review comments were addressed, unfortunately the new engineering provided does not meet the Tucson/Pima County minimum standards for wind loads of 103mph. We acknowledge your engineer is registered and likely has a template set specifically for Pima County. Please forward. B. Please clarify if onsite welds are required, and if so, have engineer fill out a special inspection form. **Please email when you are resubmitting and we will pull the plans immediately and review them for you.** Depending on revisions submitted, further review comments may be forthcoming. I may be reached at Robert.Parsons@tucsonaz.gov if you have any questions. |
