08/21/2023 | Signs | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | RE: wall and projecting sign review For: Le Macaron AT: 260 E Congress - contributing historic downtown Sign permit: TS-PRM-0823-00437 Date: 08/21/23 Reviewer: H. Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC) 7A, Sign Standards, National Electrical Code 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018 1. UDC: A) the sign area proposed is allowed for the location, but the establishment is in a historic contributor building downtown and historic review is required. B) in addition to historic review (minor review), the projecting sign is aerially over the property line in the right of way. Staff is working with Real Estate Division at Transportation to see if the existing TRE 2013-026A can be used for the sign display. C) Dimension projection from the building wall to the end of the projecting sign cabinet. The maximum is 5' projection allowed. 2. NEC: A) indicate where power penetrations are coming through for this wall sign - is there a hole in the mortar already around this glass block area? B) ID location of where power is coming through mortar for the projecting sign 3. OLC: No comments, thank you 4. IBC: A) The plans should be amended from 3/8 inch rod to match the size of the mortar at 1/4 inch, for penetrations to only go through mortar rather than brick. Also, please check perhaps a metal plate inside the brick wall would further allow the brick to be protected for the projecting sign mounting. Please email me and Michael.Taku@tucsonaz.gov when plans are resubmitted for the scheduling of a historic minor review process. |
