Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov Codes: Unified Development Code (7A) Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018 1. UDC: I fully acknowledge the sign area proposed on the building (replacement signs) is within sign area allowances, thank you. (The drive thru signs do not count toward total allowed sign area.) To proceed with this permit, please address the following items: A) add standard note that all drive thru signs to be setback 1’ at minimum, from face of drive thru curb to support pole B) leave the building dimensions on the plan, but circle the lot line frontages of 225’ along Harrison and 100’ along Broadway for development frontage 2. NEC: A) clarify how we have two different shut offs here – not clear why you have a shut off on the lettered sign set outside and then one on the inside with lock box… (is this an old drafting layer left on?) B) add note using existing sign circuits, per recently approved building plans: circuits 20, 22, 24 and 26 for menu board, also 36, 38 , 40 and 42 C) check your amps for each sign, you have 1 amp being pulled per sign, and these sizes and light pack amount would vary per each one; check manufacturer spec please. 3. OLC: A) add standard note on each sheet ‘not a 24 hour operation, signs shall shut off via timer at midnight” B) clarify on the lettered wall signs (side view) what the purpose of a photocell is for – just for seasonal adjustment to timer to operate the signs? (timer to be used) C) clarify on the directional signs, why photocells – just for seasonal adjustment to timer to operate the signs? (timer to be used for shut off at midnight) D) add note that timer will be shown at inspection with setting E) please clarify HOW the menu station will be dimmed down from 4400k to 200 NITS – i.e. photo cell? 4. IBC: A) throughout the plan set, place call out the type of wall for mounting purposes B) if the wall is not clear to you, to save time – list all possible type of anchors to be used in case of masonry, stucco / EIFS/wood, etc. C) anchors for wall signs will be checked on the updated plan set, thank you D) please upload clear sheets of engineering from Tony, it is blurred on my end. Provide 115 mph on the wind speed for the menu order stations, with all footers, mounts and details for construction. E) clearance bar, add note how the top sign is mounted to the cross arm, please Depending on revisions resubmitted, further review comments may be forthcoming.
