Codes: Unified Development Code (7A) Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018

1. UDC:
A) this sign is a low-profile sign design, which requires a 2’ tall base running full length of the sign cabinet, per UDC 7A.10.2.C.2.ii.e. Add base. Can be metal component or a masonry component.
B) check the setback noted on the plan, I’m getting a different measurement
C) the tallest the sign can be for a 12’ setback is 6’ in height, but it appears that the sign setback needs double checking first before proceeding further. For an 8’ tall sign (which includes to top of cabinet), provide a 16’ setback – again – check the setback to scale on your plan.
D) call out standard notes: sign also 2’ setback from face of all driveway curbs
E) provide note stating sign to be 5’ setback at minimum from any fire hydrants, per fire code
F) add SVT on west side of driveway, take 20’ deep stem from bike lane (as Technical manual allows) and provide 160’ long triangle stem
G) provide height adjustment for the overall sign structure on elevation view after base is added

2. NEC:
A) Sheet from AGI lists power to run from others – but, this is an existing illuminated sign to be replaced, are you using the existing power, circuit, etc?

3. OLC: -
A) AGI sheet lists 65k white LED’s to be used. Maximum allowed under the Outdoor Lighting Code is 4400K - replace

4. IBC:
A) thank you for the engineering, the engineer does have active engineering licensure in AZ. The engineering will have to be updated with a 2’ base to run under the full length of the sign.
B) clarify the anchors for he sign bolting of lettering inside to the face… ? TU anchors?
C) sheet showing foundation install came out blurred and unable to zoom in to reduce pixelation – replace with cleaner sheet for structural review, after 2’ tall base is added
D) show footer on your elevation sheet to match the engineered plans when updated (dual caisson is planned)

Depending on revisions resubmitted, further review comments may be forthcoming.
