REVIEWER: R. Parsons (robert.parsons@tucsonaz.gov)
CODES: Unified Development Code 7A Sign Standards (UDC), National Electrical Code 600 (NEC), Tucson – Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code 2018 (IBC).
1. UDC:
A. The sign area as proposed is acceptable. Thank you.
B. Please update your sign permit application to include the address, name of business, and street frontage.

2. NEC:
A. Please specify where the power supply for the digital canopy sign is located (ie: within the cabinet) and the shutoff switch location.

3. OLC/FCC:
A. Please provide a manufacturer statement indicating the digital canopy sign is capable of dimming down to 200 NITS sunset to sunrise.
B. For general safety, the manufacturer’s statement should also indicate the digital unit is FCC compliant and will not interfere with small cell wireless communications.
C. Per the City of Tucson Outdoor Lighting Code, illuminated signs can go up to 4400K instead of the 3000K as depicted on your drawings.
D. Please add a note that the signs will shut off at midnight via the programmable timer.

4. IBC:
A. Please provide a detailed top view of the mounting for the digital canopy sign. As described, it is hard to tell how the angle iron bracket is being mounted to the digital canopy sign and secured to the canopy.
B. Please clarify if the digital canopy sign is being inserted into the canopy for mounting purposes. A more detailed mounting diagram will be needed to show how the digital canopy sign will be secured.

Depending on revisions submitted, further review comments may be forthcoming.
