Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) Date: 7/8/24 Codes: Unified Development Code, (UDC 7A sign Standards), National Electrical Code (NEC 600), Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), and International Building Code (IBC 2018). 1) UDC Per recent conversation with the applicant, be assured that the proposed sign is permitted for this subdivision. The height, sign area and the location were discussed. The permit package provided needs a few items to be adjusted for the official permit record. The following comments and information are to assist your team through this permit review. A) Acknowledged your ROC license in your note, thank you. Please fill out this sign permit application, top and bottom areas to be filled in – and include this with your resubmitted documents: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/sharedassets/public/v/1/pdsd/documents/applicationsforms/sign-permit-application-2022.pdf B) I understand your note in this package that the sign letters are 14” tall by 9’2” long. That results in 10.6 square feet, within the allowance of up to no more than 20 square feet for a residential subdivision. Please dimension the sign area lettering on the elevation view at 1.16 x 9.16 = 10.6 square feet. C) Setbacks - for the freestanding sign location, provide a site plan showing sign location and the setback from street curbs that it is contained within property lines. Please show any easements and applicable sight visibility triangles. Suggest utilizing the subdivision plat sheet for assistance. Use this sheet for sign placement to the scale on the plan, dimension the setbacks and avoid easements. 2) NEC: no comments, thank you 3) OLC: No comments, thank you 4) IBC: A) engineering for the structure is under review by my colleague. Please watch for his review. B) add a simple note how the lettering is either mounted or is etched, carved, etc. Please update the package and resubmit all documents on the portal.
