The submitted documents were incomplete and a thorough plan review could not be performed. Please be aware, new comments may arise with the next review. COMMENTS: 1. Please provide lateral bracing front to back for the signs hanging 5 ft or more below the ceiling. 2. Please re-verify & confirm that the exact surfaces you are attaching these signs to are concrete per your drawings and not brick (historic building tends to be brick, this may affect your attachment detail). 3. Easement check) For: Starbucks AT: 130 E Congress St Sign Permit: TS-PRM-0624-00260 Reviewer: Heather Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) Date: 6/21/24 Applicable sign district: downtown pedestrian business district Further: building is contributor on national register of historic places and downtown needs historic minor review Codes applicable to signage include: Unified Development Code (UDC, 7A, Sign Standards), National Electrical Code (NEC), Tucson - Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 1. UDC: A) RE: projecting sign is the only sign subject to review, as the other signs are interior to the building and do not touch the window pane (please remove them from the application and package): A projecting sign at the sign area, height, clearance and size - as proposed - is within code for downtown pedestrian sign district, thank you. B) As the building is a contributor to the national register of historic places and is located within downtown, the proposal requires historic minor review. That will be scheduled once the plans are updated and resubmitted. Staff has opened a historic minor review case for this project. C) amend package to provide all dimensions in decimal feet and remove the other signs from the package, and resubmit. 2) NEC / OLC A) add note: all signs to be on dedicated sign circuit, which will be labeled for inspections at power panel B) all signs shall be UL or equivalent and have the UL sticker, manufacturer sticker and installer sticker affixed to the sign C) lockout to be provided anytime the disconnect is not within direct visibility of the sign (add this note - as any ship in sign may differ - safety first) D) timer shall be provided and set to shut signage off at midnight curfew . 3) IBC - A) thank you for engineering at 105 mph for the projecting sign – under review for the attachments at this time, thank you.
