Please provide installation details for the thin metal signage, including the type and manufacturer specifications for the double-sided tape and silicone adhesive used for attachment. IBC Section 107.2.1. b. Please provide details demonstrating that the proposed adhesive attachment method is capable of supporting the imposed loads and maintaining the sign securely attached to the mounting surface for the intended conditions of use. IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1604.4. c. Please indicate the substrate material and surface preparation requirements for installation of the adhesive-mounted signage. IBC Section 107.2.1. d. Where installed on exterior walls or in weather-exposed locations, please provide manufacturer specifications demonstrating the tape and silicone adhesive are approved for exterior use and compatible with the environmental exposure conditions. IBC Sections 1403.2 and 1604.4. e. Please provide mounting details showing the dimensions, thickness, weight, and attachment layout/pattern of the double sided tape and silicone on the thin metal signs. IBC Section 107.2.1. f. Adhesive-only attachment methods may not be sufficient for larger or heavier signs. Please provide engineering or manufacturer documentation verifying adequacy of the proposed installation method for the size and weight of the signs proposed as well confirm whether the adhesive manufacturer recommends replacing adhesive after so many years. IBC Sections 1604.4 and 1703.4. 2. THREADED ROD a. Please provide a detail drawing illustrating how the rod is secured in place. b. Please indicate the substrate material and surface preparation requirements for installation of the adhesive-mounted signage. IBC Section 107.2.1. 3. BLADE SIGN a. Provide detail drawing illustrating how the steel arm is attached to the façade and how the sign is attached to the steel arm. 4. Please resubmit. |

Plan review for the above referenced structure has been completed by Tami Goltz. This letter reflects comments to be addressed. Additional comments may be provided in subsequent reviews. Code reference: Unified Development Code, Article 7A: Sign Standards, adopted Outdoor Lighting Code, adopted Building Code. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Tami.Goltz@tucsonaz.gov or 520-837-5049. 1) Please show the frontage for the building on the site plan. 2) All dimensions must be in feet.decimal format, not feet and/or inches. For instance, 113” = 9.42’ (113/12 = 9.416666666666667, rounded to 9.42’. 3) Please remove all notes regarding allowed square footage as the numbers are incorrect. 4) All wall signs must show the dimension from grade to the bottom of the sign. 5) Remove application page from package as it is no longer required. 6) When indicating the elevation, use directional indicators, such as north elevation, not front or back elevation. 7) There is a sign listed on the site plan, T1 that does not have sign detail drawings. Please provide the sign drawing page for this sign. If the sign is a change of copy under 35 square feet (simply sliding one panel out and replacing it with another panel with no alteration or removal of the cabinet), then remove the T1 from the site plan as it won’t require a permit. |
