Codes applicable to signs include: Unified Development Code (UDC, 7A, Sign Standards), National Electrical Code (NEC), Tucson - Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC)

1. UDC:
A) Sign area proposed as shown is allowed, thank you. (The sign area a ratio of 1.25 x the length of each building wall (building frontage), per variance S-08-22 and per current code ratio.)
B) The development package has been issued and building plan revision almost completely approved, signage was reviewed with these plan sets for compared data.

2. NEC / OLC:
A) Most Home Depots have a corporate, remote timer-controlled system for their AC, lighting and signs, versus one on the site. If applicable, add that notation – and leave reference to the on-site timer device ususally provided, just in case.

3. IBC:
A) check that all signs have the appropriate wall type called out, some are EIFS not masonry. (i.e. signs C and D, etc.) If a wall has a combination – simply add note listing options for mounting schedule based on conditions found for signs B- E.
B) signs B – D also have a raised bracket mount off the walls. Please identify materials for these and how affixed to the sign letter backs.
B) It is the opinion of the reviewer that for greatest safety in public access area and with 6’ tall lettering, that engineered mounting is required for that specific sign. Please check with your ASA engineering subscription, it likely has the spec data to confirm the mounting type and required number of mounting points needed to proceed.

Please feel free to email me when you’re ready to resubmit, and I’ll place this review at the top of our queue for a 5 day turn around (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov)
