The submitted documents were incomplete and a thorough plan review could not be performed. Please be aware, new comments may arise with the next review. COMMENTS: 1. We Thank You for submitting the structural calculations for the Monument Sign drilled pier. You indicate on your drawing a 4 inch steel pipe pole being used, please submit the structural calculation for this steel pipe (this is missing) as well as submit drawing details as to how the sign is attached to the steel pole. 2. Similar to the monument sign, Please submit structural calculation for the Menu Board’s drilled pier, anchor bolts, steel base plate and drawing details as to how the sign is attached on the two steel poles proposed on the foundation section drawing. 3. Similar to the monument sign, Please submit structural calculation for the Ordering Canopy’s drilled pier, anchor bolts, steel base plate, steel pole, canopy arm and drawing details for the joint at the steel pole/arm along with the structural calculation resisting the 115 mph 3 second gust of wind along with other lateral forces. 4. Similar to the monument sign, Please submit structural calculation for the Clearance Bar’s drilled pier, anchor bolts, steel base plate, steel pole, horizontal arm and drawing details for the joint at the steel pole/arm along with the structural calculation resisting the 115 mph 3 second gust of wind along with other lateral forces. 5. | 04/11/2024 | Signs | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | RE: freestanding sign review For: Taco Bell (new build) AT: 9535 E Golf Links Rd Sign permit: TS-PRM-0324-00121 Reviewer: Heather Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) Date: 4/11/24 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC, 7A, Sign Standards), National Electrical Code (NEC), Tucson - Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 1. UDC: A) the wall signage originally included in this package is proceeding under a separate permit that has been approved, thank you. Staff is adjusting review fees for this freestanding signage permit to pertain solely to the type and number of signs on this package, thank you. B) directional signage appears within the right of way along Golf Links and requires relocation on the site or a Temporary Revocable Easement (TRE). If your client choses a TRE, submit that as a separate permit for review so as to not hold up other detached signs (due to timeline for TRE process). C) pick up signs – provide either on sidewalk with 5’ clear around these signs, or check that parking spaces are 20 feet deep to allow for 1.5’ clear at top of parking spaces to not obstruct signs or parking dimension depths per UDC 7.4.6.5. 2) NEC / OLC A) Add note that power to monument to be run by others via building permit. B) Add label clearly calling out the shut off switch location for the monument sign C) menu station – must be able to dim to 200 Nits (OLC 501.) from sunset to curfew – and indicate how (i.e. photocell sensor and timer) D) menu station – provide all standard electrical information: i.e volts, amps, circuits, shut off switch location 3) IBC: A) add note how pipe system is mounted to aluminum cabinet (i.e. size / typical number of saddle plates / bolts, and bolt size) B) see structural reviewer’s comments pertaining to required engineering for all the drive thru sign structures and resubmit C) menu station missing the connection data and engineering seal? D) pick up station signs are 5’ tall – provide the standard pipe / footer/ bolt /saddle notes for these signs E) directional signs do not have footer nor pipe data – provide notations at minimum 4) General note: A) add note that 5’ clearance required around fire hydrants for detached sign structures B) add note that digital signs shall be FCC compliant (menu board) if operated remotely, or hard wired (specify unit manufacturer data statement if remote operation). Digital signs operating remotely have been recalled in recent years due to operation issues interrupting small cell wireless, hence the FCC compliance statement.
