| 03/22/2023 | Signs | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | RE: wall sign review For: Subway AT: 2110 W Grant Road (1.25 ratio sign area – Scenic District – Transitional area 2009 code honored) Permit: TS-PRM-0323-00244 Date: 3/22/23 Reviewer: H. Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov Codes: Unified Development Code (7A) Sign Standards, National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code (IBC) 2018 1. UDC: A) This location is within the Scenic District of the Sign Standards. The sign area ratio at 1.25 square feet of sign area per linear foot of tenant suite frontage is the current code. However, this same business has been at this location since our prior code and is allowed a nonconforming sign area of up to 39 square feet for all signs on the building. The proposal shows 31.25 square feet in sign area for the new wall sign, and will be honored. B) please update the location plan to reflect the suite frontage is 21’ wide – per 2009 wall sign permit. C) thank you for the property management permission document, appreciated. 2. NEC 600: A) Please double check manufacturing spec on the number of amps the sign is pulling. Thank you. 3. OLC: No comments, thank you. 4. IBC: A) It appears the drafting data layer for sign mounting information was inadvertently left off, and thus please provide the size, type of bolt / screw / brackets – noncorrosive – on the construction sheet. Please also provide a typical number of these bolts / brackets for the lettering mounting to the raceway through the wall. B) Please also provide clarity on the mount from the letter to the raceway on the updated diagram set. Depending on revisions resubmitted, further review comments may be forthcoming. I may be reached at Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov if you have any questions. |
