Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov) Date: 5/30/23 Codes: Unified Development Code (UDC 7A Sign Standards), National Electrical Code NEC 600, Tucson-Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), and International Building Code (IBC) 2018. 1. UDC: a) The other package on Valencia had directional signs and pay station signs added on the most recent resubmittal. If applicable, please add to the plans. b) Sign E sign area is only 23.5 square feet, please fix on the plans 2. NEC: No comments, thank you. 3. OLC: a) Provide statement from manufacturer (Watchfire) which unit this is and that it is capable of dimming down to 200 Nits from sunset to curfew b) This unit is shown to dim via timer – versus the other package had virtually similar sign was dimmed by photocell, please have manufacturer clarify in statement which method to dim. c) SAFETY – OTHER – have manufacturer add note in their statement that this unit will be compliant with Federal Communications Commission regulations and not interrupt cell service (as they have sent out notices recently regarding this). d) Please just add a clarifying note that this digital display is a master and mirror function unit and will have same display and change rate (1 x per minute). 4. IBC: A) Keep welding as noted in engineer’s original plan set, thank you. They can determine if special inspection applies due to the size of the sign, per our structural reviewer. Please let me know when you are resubmitting these plans and I’ll process them for review quickly. Thank you. |
