01/20/2023 Signs REQUIRES RESUBMIT RE: building sign review
For: Family Dollar / 3000 E 22nd Street, suite 151
Permit: TS-PRM-0123-00124
Reviewer: H. Thrall (Heather.Thrall@tucsonaz.gov)
Date: 01/20/23

Codes: Unified Development Code 7A Sign Standards (UDC), National Electrical Code (NEC) 600, Tucson- Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code (OLC), International Building Code 2018 (IBC).

1. UDC
A) Building plans are not yet approved for the rebuild of this location. I'm willing to look at a sheet of the building plans if you can provide it and move forward with the review. If you cannot obtain one, the remainder of the review will have to wait until the building plans are approved and permit issued for verification of wall types, parapet and canopy construction, and frontage.

B. The location is suite 151, add to permit application.

C. Permit application indicates wall signs, but canopy mount info is in the plan set. Please triple check and adjust the application and the plans as needed.

D) If the frontage is correct for this tenant, then the sign area proposed is not an issue.

E. There's a lot of negative space here used in this sign area boxed, break down into the individual cabinets (will be required anyway if different mounts - i.e. mix of wall and canopy signs)

2. NEC / OLC:
A) add all the standard OLC and NEC notations to the plans for review (i.e. the timer shut off time, the stickers added to signs, the dedicated circuits for signs will be labeled at the breaker panel, the midnight shut off, etc.)

3. IBC
A) add sign weight for each cabinet on the plans to determine if engineering is needed for mounting (ASA has an engineering diagram, no worries)
B) add wall and canopy construction material to diagram (or provide building sheet)
C) once clarified if the signage is canopy signage, wall signage, a mix - etc - please triple check your mounting as appropriate.

Please resubmit on the portal under TS-PRM-0123-00124. If you have any questions or wish to share prelim data / sketches, just email. Thank you.
