Rebate Program Requirements:
• Landscape Replacement Requirements:
o At a minimum, all turf removal area must have landscape replacement of 50% tree canopy or vegetative groundcover at maturity
o Plant material in conversion area must be from Arizona Department of Water Resources, Tucson Active Management Area Low Water Use/Drought Tolerant Plant list
• Irrigation requirements:
o Installing separate lines and watering zones for different plant types (e.g. shrubs and groundcovers, cacti and trees) is recommended to increase watering efficiency.

Tucson Water Review:
• Landscape Plan approval denied: does not meet 50% landscape replacement requirement
• Total eligible area = 4,136 sq. ft
• Canopy coverage of 31 plants at maturity, all cacti and/or succulents = approx. 129 sq. ft (approx.. 3% canopy coverage)

o Sec 5-01.5.3 Calculation of Plant Growth Coverage:
A. For the calculation of plant growth coverage, two years’ growth is used as a base for shrubs and ground covers. Ten years’ growth is used for trees.
B. If the standard is for a certain size area of landscaping or for a purpose such as dust control, the plant materials used must be installed with the appropriate spacing and cover more than 50% of the area with vegetation. Applicant must indicate “on center” (o.c.) planting standards for all ground cover.
