That portion of the private fire line in the S Pinta Av and Melridge St. rights of way will be a public fire service owned and operated by Tucson Water, and it will need to be designed and constructed in accordance with Tucson Water’s design standards. None of the DR-14 PVC pipe suppliers on Tucson Water’s Authorized Materials List show a listing for 2” DR-14 PVC pipe. The smallest DR-14 PVC pipe size they have is 4”. If the Tucson Fire Department approves the change in the private fire line size from 4” to 2”, the 2” pipe in the S Pinta Av and Melridge St. rights of way will need to be Type K copper, as described in Section 1416 of Tucson Water’s Standard Specifications Manual and Approved Materials List.
