The reason the condition was added was due to the plans stating that bollards would be used on PV-01. If this has changed or is not possible, you will need to submit a revision to the permit including a new plan set showing the new protection from impact and the revision letter demonstrating the change in the plan set.

Please show how recessed the wall is and if the finished floor is off the rest of the garage finished floor providing protection adhering to 330.8. In order to ensure protection, we will look for a minimum 4" in height of the alcove/niche and 54" clearance from opening of the recessed section. From the photos provided, I do not believe the space can provide the necessary dimensions without the use of an additional method of protection.

Other options may include installing the ESS above the vehicular driving path 48" above the garage floor or less depending on the opening width of the garage. ESS can be installed on the side walls behind the return wall (as long as return wall depth exceeds battery depth), or another method that would provide a resistance of 2000 N/m^2 at 24" (provide plans that are stamped by an AZ registrant).
