Code reference, 2018 International Residential Code (IRC). 1. Hooking in a new gas appliance into the existing gas line may require the upsizing of the main line out of the meter. Provide the following information for code verification. a. Longest length, measured from the meter to the farthest attached appliance, G2413.4.1. This length is used in the following tables to select the correct pipe sizes. (Use the next largest length row that is greater than the longest length measurement. ) b. The individual demand of each attached appliance and total demand. Use Table G2413.4(1) (Metallic Pipe) to calculate correct required pipe sizes. (Table G2413.4(7) Polyethylene Plastic Pipe).
