Code reference, 2018 International Residential Code (IRC). 1. Modifications and additions to the gas line require that the existing system be enlarged to meet the total demand based on the new length and load, G2412.3, G2412.4. The gas Tankless water heater adds additional load to the system. 2. Provide a complete gas piping template showing the connection and length from the meter to all attached appliances, G2401.1, R301.1: Include pipe size, type (Black Iron, Poly) and length. Size the pipe based on the length from the meter to the farthest attached appliance and max total demand of all attached appliances using Table G2413.4(1) (Metallic Pipe), Table G2413.4(7) Polyethylene Plastic Pipe. Note: The length is measured from the meter to the furthest attached appliance for all sizing, G2413.4.1. 4. Provide manufacturer’s specifications for the tankless water heater.
