I can be reached at email mark.masek@tucsonaz.gov Roof Openings – Guarding or Covers Required 1. Please provide protection at all roof openings capable of creating a fall hazard. Revise the plans to provide one of the following: A code-compliant guard complying with the applicable provisions of the IBC; or A cover that is securely fastened in place and designed to function as part of the roof assembly. The cover shall be capable of supporting a minimum roof live load of 20 psf, or greater where required by the applicable design loads, and shall prevent inadvertent displacement. Provide construction details demonstrating the method of protection, attachment, and structural capacity of the proposed guards or covers.
