From previous conversations with the project team, my understanding was that the retaining wall surrounding the pool was going to be kept. 2) Demolition of structures over 50 years old require photographic and architectural documentation per Ordinance 10776. If the retaining wall will be demolished, you will need to provide documentation as outlined in the “Historic Property Demolition Architectural Documentation” form: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/sharedassets/public/v/1/city-services/planning-development-services/historic-preservation/documents/2019_historic_or_older_demo_documentation_form_and_instructions.pdf. 3) The project will be utilizing UDC 7.4.5.D - D. Exemption Based on Maintenance of Historic Structure, which states: “Non-residential uses with a parking formula of one space per 300 square feet gross floor area or less intense formula that occupy a structure listed individually on the National Register of Historic Places or listed as a contributing property in a National Register Historic District, are exempt from Section 7.4.4.B, Minimum Number of Motor Vehicle Spaces Required, provided the historic designation of the contributing is maintained.” Given that the project consists of additional scopes of work that could collectively impact the contributing historic status of the property, I will need to review the full scope of the proposal together before proceeding with the approval of any exterior demolition applications.
