COMMENTS:
Suite 104
1. Please clarify how the ejector pump discharge line connects to the gravity drainage system, and verify that the 2” gravity flow pipe can accommodate the pumped discharge. (Reference: 2018 IPC Section 712.3.5)
• Based on the listed 43 GPM flow in the ejector pump schedule, Table 710.1(2) indicates that a 4” horizontal drain would be required. For reference, the 2018 IPC commentary (Section 712.3) gives an example: “Consider a 2-inch (51 mm) discharge pipe having a 21-gpm (79 L/m) flow (refer to Table 712.4.2). Using the 2-dfu-to-1-gpm (3.8 L/m) equivalency yields a 42-dfu load on the gravity flow pipe that the discharge pipe connects to. A review of Table 710.1(2) indicates that at least a 4-inch (102 mm) horizontal drain or at least a 3-inch (76 mm) stack would be necessary to accommodate this load.”
2. Show a check valve and a full open valve in the ejector discharge piping between the pump and the gravity drainage system. (Reference 2018 IPC Section 712.2)
3. Looking at Keynote 2 at the end of the drainage line from Suite 104, please clarify what Keynote 2 refers to. It is not clear how this relates to the dishwasher drain and garbage disposal.
