12/22/2023 | Commercial Structural | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | Please submit your revised drawings and supporting documents, along with a detailed response letter, which states how all Demolition comments were addressed. Please amend plans to show side-hinged swinging doors shall swing in the direction of egress travel, where serving a room or area containing an occupant load of 50 or more persons. ❖ A side-hinged door must swing in the direction of egress travel where the calculated occupant load of the room or area is 50 or more. As such, a room with two doors and an occupant load of 60 would require both doors to swing in the direction of egress travel, even though each door has a calculated occupant usage of less than 50. At this level of occupant load, the possibility exists that, in an emergency situation, a compact line of people could form at a closed door that swings in a direction opposite the egress flow. This could delay or eliminate the first person's ability to open the door inward with the rest of the queue behind the person. IBC 1010.1.2.1 Please amend the door hardware schedule to indicate the exit access doors for Conference room #112 occupancy shall not be provided with a latch or lock other than panic hardware or fire exit hardware. IBC 1010.1.10 Please amend plans to note or otherwise indicate the conference room assembly occupancy shall have the occupant load sign posted in a conspicuous place near the exit access doorway(s) of Conference room 112. IBC 1004.9 Please amend plans to show the Exit Sign locations on the plan where required inside and outside of rooms 112 and 120. Exits and exit access doors shall be marked by an approved exit sign readily visible from any direction of egress travel. The path of egress travel to exits and within exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs to clearly indicate the direction of egress travel in cases where the exit or the path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants. Intervening means of egress doors within exits shall be marked by exit signs. Exit sign placement shall be such that any point in an exit access corridor or exit passageway is within 100 feet or the listed viewing distance of the sign, whichever is less, from the nearest visible exit sign. IBC 1013.1 Please indicate how the Exit Signs are to be illuminated. IBC 1013.3 Please amend plans to show the location and method of emergency means of egress illumination for entire path of egress travel. IBC 1008.1 |
