1. Provide an interior lighting COMcheck or other approved methodology for the project for the new proposed lighting that is in compliance with the 2018 IECC. Response: No new lighting has been added to the project, all electrical are existing.
Comment: The plans indicate that the existing lighting is being changed to new fixtures. For existing buildings per 2018 C503.6 new lighting systems that are part of the alteration shall comply with section C405 unless the alterations replace less than 10 percent of the luminaries in a space. It appears that more than 10 percent of the building existing lighting fixtures are being replaced with new lighting fixtures and therefore must comply with the energy requirements.
There is also new lighting shown in the dining room above the tables and a few new wall wash can light fixtures A-2.
The existing lighting was not shown for the bathrooms or adjacent hallway in demo plan D2.1 and it is unknown what existing fixtures are in these areas. Provide an interior lighting allowance in accordance with one of the methods in C405.3.2.
1. Clarify if the new lighting installed in the bathrooms will be switched by occupancy sensors, or if an alternate method will be installed for the switching of the lights. 2018 IECC C405.2.1. Response: No new lighting has been added to the project, all electrical are existing and relocated.
Comment: The plans do not indicate the existing lighting in the bathrooms. New or replaced lighting fixtures are required to follow the switching in accordance with the 2018 IECC C405.2.1. (See comment 1 above).
1. Indicate the location of all “night lighting” on the plans for egress illumination or indicate light sensors will be used. All rooms and usable floor surfaces in a building shall be equipped with artificial lighting and shall be illuminated at all times that the space is occupied. 2018 IBC 1008.2. Response: Night lighting has been added, see Sheet A1.2.
Comment: The new lighting fixtures to be on the night lighting circuit were not found on plan sheet A1.2. Please clearly mark these fixtures
