2nd Electrical Review of Hospital
By: Ron Ross PE
1. E320 SECOND FLOOR PLAN – POWER: Keynote 29 is incorrect or showing wrong location. EOR Response: We believe all Keynote 29 on this sheet are in the correct locations. Note 29 is pointing to a junction box for power to faucet power connection. Typical of five (5) locations this sheet. This is depicted similarly on other power sheets. Addressed

2. E510 FIRST FLOOR PLAN – FIRE ALARM & SECURITY: Missing Fire Alarm note 12. EOR Response: Fire alarm note 12 has been revised to fire alarm note 8 on revised Sheet E510. Addressed

3. E540 FOURTH FLOOR PLAN - FIRE ALARM & SECURITY: Could not locate Fire Alarm Note 15. EOR Response: Fire alarm note 15 is shown adjacent to shaft wall near nurse office 451. May be somewhat difficult to find due to room name text. Addressed

4. E801 ELECTRICAL ONE-LINE DIAGRAM:

a. TREQL1 primary CB is undersized for a typical 45 KVA transformer by using a 30A circuit breaker. Primary conductors not shown and will probably nuisance trip.
EOR Response: The CB for the 45KVA transformer TREQL1 is shown on E801 as a 70A/3P CB. This is shown correctly. The reviewer may be mistaking one of the breakers shown for the hot water pumps as being for this transformer. Breaker size is shown to the left of the breaker symbol by convention. The feeder for the transformer is shown on the panel schedule drawing on E908 and are not intended to be shown on E801. Addressed

b. Appears to be no panel/load connect to secondary of TRLSGEN. EOR Response: TRLSGEN is shown to supply an exterior disconnect for a portable generator shore power. Refer to E1008 note 27. This is shown correctly on E801. Addressed. Would suggest to add a CB or disconnect onto main feed of panel LSH1 to more quickly/easily isolate this panel if a portable generator is used so to not backfeed power into upstream circuits.

5. E904 ELECTRICAL SCHEDULES III:

a. PANEL NL3B – Section 2, Circuits 69/71 listed as 3 poles but only has 2 poles connected. EOR Response: The drawing has been corrected to show two-poles. Refer to revised Sheet E904. Addressed

b. PANEL NL3B – Section 2, Circuits 73/75 listed as 3 poles but only has 2 poles connected. EOR Response: The drawing has been corrected to show two-poles. Refer to revised Sheet E904. Addressed

6. E907 ELECTRICAL SCHEDULES VI: SWITCHBOARD EMSB, Circuit1 has a 1481A load on a 1200A breaker. EOR Response: This is only a NEC calculated demand load and not the actual demand load which is based on historical data from similar facilities. This is acceptable per NEC 517.31(D) and NEC 517.31(B)(1). In addition, this load is scheduled to be shed from EMSB if the generator becomes overloaded, as permitted by NEC 517.31(B)(2). Refer to emergency power system sequence of operation on E901. Addressed

7. E1001 ELECTRICAL ROOM DETAILS: Keynote 11s do not seem to be appropriate for their locations or should be reworded for clarity. EOR Response: We believe that the two keynote 11s shown in Detail 1/E1001 are shown in the correct locations. These are referenced to transformer TRLSGEN and the 100A/3P fused disconnect on the secondary side of TRLSGEN. This equipment is solely for use with a
temporary portable generator. We believe note 11, taken in context with info on E801 and E1008 conveys the information needed for the constructing contractor. Addressed

8. E1003 ENLARGED MECHANICAL ROOM DETAIL: Missing Keynote 12.
EOR Response: This drawing has been corrected. Refer to revised Sheet E1003 revising note 12 in two locations on plan to be note 9. Addressed
