08/31/2026 Commercial Mechanical Express REQUIRES RESUBMIT 1. Revise the site plan to show the building and unit number where the replacement HVAC unit will be replaced.
2. Provide the specifications for the replacement HVAC unit (e.g. manufacturer, model number, heating/cooling capacity, and efficiency ratings).
3. Replacement of AC units and heat pumps will require a heating/cooling load calculation to justify the capacities of the units being installed. Reference: Sections R403.7 and R501.4, IECC 2024.
4. The replacement unit shall have an efficiency rating (i.e., SEER2, HSPF2) that is greater than or equal to the minimum required by the Department of Energy that went into effect on January 1, 2023, for the southwest region.
5. Note: New heating /cooling loads are not required for emergency replacement of cooling and heating equipment where there are no alterations, additions, or changes of occupancy, the equipment does not increase in capacity, and the existing equipment was installed prior to January 1, 2013. Reference: Section C403.1.1, IECC 2024, as amended by the City of Tucson.
