I can be reached at email mark.masek@tucsonaz.gov 1. Please indicate the type of roofing system that is proposed to be removed and identify the building numbers on the site plan. IBC 107.2.1 2. Structural Evaluation – Roof Replacement: Please provide documentation prepared by an Arizona Licensed design professional, identifying the existing and proposed roof assemblies and their respective dead loads (psf). The structural evaluation shall consider the complete roof assembly, including membrane, built-up roofing plies, asphalt, aggregate, insulation, cover boards and other permanent roofing components. If this is an existing BUR assembly and the weight cannot be verified, identify the assumptions used to establish the existing roof dead load. As a preliminary screening value, 5 psf may be used to represent a typical gravel-surfaced BUR assembly, subject to verification by the design professional. Please demonstrate that the proposed roof replacement does not adversely affect the existing structural system. Where the proposed assembly is lighter than the existing assembly, provide the calculated change in dead load and identify any other applicable structural considerations, including wind uplift, roof drainage/ponding, existing structural deterioration and changes to the roof attachment/load path. Reference: 2024 IEBC applicable structural alteration provisions and 2024 IBC Chapter 16 requirements for structural loads, including roof dead loads.
