City of Tucson Unified Development Code: Inspection by the city building inspector and the county health department to show the site of the establishment complies with each of the following minimum requirements (Please show/locate/label all of the following on the drawings): a. A readable sign shall be permanently attached and posted at the main entrance identifying the establishment as a massage establishment. The sign shall not be smaller than three (3) inches by five (5) inches and be of a durable material. b. Minimum lighting shall be provided in accordance with the Uniform Building Code, and in addition, at least one (1) artificial light of not less than forty (40) watts shall be provided in each room or enclosure where massage therapy is performed on patrons which shall be in operation whenever massage therapy is performed. c. Minimum ventilation shall be provided in accordance with the Uniform Building Code. Rooms must have a window that opens and/or a supply and return register. d. Adequate equipment shall be provided for disinfecting instruments used in administering or practicing any of the subjects or methods of treatment listed in section 7-131(a). e. Hot and cold running water, tempered by means of a mixing valve faucet, shall be provided at all times. f. Closed cabinets shall be provided, and used, for the storage of clean linens (locate/label on the plan). g. Adequate dressing and toilet facilities shall be provided for patrons. The bathroom must be within the confines of the establishment. One (1) dressing room (may be the same as the massage treatment room), one (1) toilet and one (1) wash basin shall be provided by every massage establishment with one (1) to three (3) treatment rooms. Another toilet and wash basin must be provided when there are four (4) or more treatment rooms in an establishment. A minimum of one (1) shower or tub shall be provided for any establishment offering any hydrotherapy services such as whirlpool baths, saunas, steam baths, herbal wraps, etc. Each dressing room/treatment room shall contain a locker, lock box or cabinet for each patron to be served which shall be capable of being locked. h. Clean and sanitary sheets and towels shall be provided for each patron of the establishment. The head rest or face cradle of each table shall be provided with a clean and sanitary covering for each patron. i. All wash basins within an establishment shall have hot and cold running water, tempered by means of a mixing valve faucet; provide sanitary towels placed in permanently installed dispensers or upon a permanently attached roll dispenser; and provide a soap dispenser that is placed on or near the wash basin. A hand wash basin shall be provided in each treatment room providing hydrotherapy services. j. Locate/label all massage table on the plan. 2. RECEPTION a. The tops of work surfaces shall be 28 inches min & 34 inches max above the floor per ICC A117.1 sec 902.4. b. Sec 306.3.3 Knee clearance shall be 11 inches min in depth at 9 inches above the floor, and 8 inches min in depth at 27 inches above the floor. c. Sec 306.3 Knee clearance shall be 30 inches min in width. d. 904.3.2 Parallel approach, the counter surface 36 inches min length. e. 904.3.3 Forward approach, the counter surface 30 inches min length. 3. DRINKING FOUNTAIN (This is new in this permit, therefore correct the plumbing plans to reflect this. NOTE: the last previously approved building permit plan do not have this.) a. Where the Building and Plumbing Codes require a drinking fountain, the City of Tucson will accept point of use water dispenser in lieu of the classically recognized drinking fountain. b. The water dispenser must be listed and labeled in accordance with the Code. c. The water dispenser must be connected to a permanent supply of potable water. d. The water supply must be indicated on the plans and installed per code. e. A clear floor space shall be provided for the cooler in compliance with chapter 6 of ICC A117.1. f. A permanently mounted disposable cup dispenser shall be installed adjacent to the cooler with the dispensing end between 34" and 48" above finish floor and show the clear floor space complying to chapter 3 ICC A117.1 section 602.4. g. NOTE: waste line shall also be necessary to be connected to this drinking fountain 4. MOP SINK (This is new in this permit, therefore correct the plumbing plans to reflect this. NOTE: the last previously approved building permit plan do not have this.) 5. WATER HEATER (This is new in this permit, therefore correct the plumbing plans to reflect this. NOTE: the last previously approved building permit plan do not have this.) 6. ADA RESTROOM: This is non-compliant to ICC A117.1 a. Clearance width around a water closet shall be 60 inches minimum in width, measured perpendicular from the sidewall per ICC A117.1 sec 604.3.1 b. 604.3.2 Clearance depth around the water closet shall be 56 inches minimum in depth, measured perpendicular from the rear wall. c. 604.3.3 No other fixtures or obstructions shall be within the required water closet clearance. FIGURE 604.3 d. The toilet paper dispenser is too far from the water closet, please correct this. e. The grab bars are away from the water closet, please correct this and locate them at the water closet. Please make this correction. 7. Please resubmit. |
