| 07/27/2026 | Commercial Plumbing Standard | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | 1. Verify that the pipe sizes called out for the flush valves will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper, PEX, or CPVC piping). At a minimum design flow rate of 25 GPM for a siphonic, flush-valve water closet, a 1” Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 9.7 FPS. Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2024. 2. Verify that the distance from the hot water source to the hot water termination for the public lavatories complies with the requirements of Section C404.5.1, IECC 2024 (e.g., Lavatories in the women’s restroom). 3. Appliances (e.g. beverage dispensers, ice makers, etc.) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.14.1, IPC 2024 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2024 4. Correct detail 10/P201to show all three if the sink compartments having indirect waste connections. If the 3-compartment sink is used only for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing utensils used for food service, the sink shall drain indirectly to the grease interceptor with an air gap or an air break. If, however, the 3-compartment sink is also used for the preparation of food items, separate indirect waste pipes shall be provided for each compartment to protect against cross-contamination or fouling and each indirect drain shall terminate with an air gap. Reference: Sections 801.2, 802.1.1, and 802.1.7, IPC 2024. 5. Clarify the intended size of the proposed grease interceptor. The plumbing fixture schedule shows a GB-1000 unit while the grease waste calculations show a GB75 unit. See Section 1003.2 (C), IPC 2024, as amended by the City of Tucson, for sizing methods. 6. A hand wash sink located in the kitchen area shall either discharge through a grease interceptor or have a sign posted above it stating: “HANDWASH SINK ONLY!
