Replacement of commercial AC units constitutes new work so the submittal will require a heating/cooling load calculation to justify the capacities of the units being installed (Sections C403.3.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2018). While ventilation calculations are not required, a test and balance report is required to verify that the total supply airflow and the outside airflow are at least equal to that which the previous AC unit provided. Reference: Section C503.4, IECC 2018.
2. The minimum internal pipe diameter for condensate drains is ¾”. Reference: Section 307.2.2, IMC 2018.
3. Condensate drains may not terminate over a roof drain or gutter unless the roof drain or gutter terminates at or below grade in an area capable of absorbing the condensate flow without surface drainage. Reference: Section 307.2.1, IMC 2018, as amended by the City of Tucson.
