08/28/2023 | Commercial Mechanical | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | 1. The City of Tucson has not adopted ASHRAE Standard 62-1 as an approved method for calculating ventilation requirements, the 2018 IMC is the approved method for calculating ventilation requirements. A repair garage has different ventilation requirements compared to an enclosed parking garage and is allowed to reduce the exhaust air flow rate based on the carbon monoxide concentration. Using the AC in a repair garage, will require a plan that considers the air quality (e.g. CO and NOx concentration) in the space. [Initial comment: Provide calculations to verify that adequate ventilation will be provided for the occupied spaces. Reference: Section 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018.] 2. A repair garage requires 0.75 CFM of exhaust per square foot plus source-capture exhaust for running cars (7,500 CFM). 1,000 CFM of make-up air would be inadequate. [Initial comment: Verify that adequate make up air will be provided to offset any required exhaust quantities. Reference: Table 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018.] |
