10/07/2024 | Commercial Plumbing | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | 1. Revise the water heater detail to show the proper installation of a lead-free vacuum relief valve (i.e. the valve is to be located on a cold water supply line above the highest point of the tank of the water heater). Show that the installation of the water heater above the ceiling complies with the requirements of Sections 306.3 and 306.3.1, IFGC 2018. [Second comment: Comment not addressed.] [Initial comment: Identify the source of domestic hot water. If the water heater is being installed, provide a detail of the water heater installation, including the excess pressure relief, expansion tank, vacuum relief or other anti-siphon device, safety pan, and valves. Reference: Sections 503.1, 504, 606.1, 607.2, and 607.3, IPC 2018.] 2. The maximum distance between the hot water source and the termination for a public lavatory is 6” for a ¾” hot water supply, 24” for a ½” hot water supply. If a central water heater is to be used, a hot water recirculation system will be required. [Second comment: Comment not addressed.] The notes describing the hot water recirculation, the piping drawing, and the placement of a recirculation pump do not appear to result in a working hot water recirculation system. In addition, hot water recirculation systems are required to have controls that automatically turn off the recirculation pump when there is no hot water demand. Reference: Section C404.6.1, IECC 2018. [Initial comment: Verify that the distance from the hot water source to the hot water termination for the lavatories complies with the requirements of Section C404.5, IECC 2018.] 3. Why is natural gas being supplied to a heat pump? Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2018. |
