12/04/2023 | External Reviewers - SAFEBuilt | REQUIRES RESUBMIT | Structural(S) Reviewer Madeline Nelson mnelson@safebuilt.com Denied Reason: Date Completed : 11/30/2023 3:47:08 PM For markups of Sheet F001, (Comments #2-5), see the Reviewer folder. 1. GENERAL - UPDATES: For project updates, please submit sheets with all changes clearly marked in revision clouds. Please provide a written response to each comment; updates without a clear response to all comments may not be reviewed. If you have any questions regarding the comments, you may contact me directly. Updates may result in additional comments. 2. F001 - CURRENT CODE: Structural construction documents shall clearly indicate the building code used for design. Please revise the reference to the "Latest State Building Code" to indicate the "2018 International Building Code" as currently adopted by the City of Tucson. 3. F001 - DESIGN CRITERIA: Per the 2018 IBC Section 1603.1.1 and 1603.1.2, floor and roof live load used for design should be clearly indicated on the construction documents. Please revise the structural general notes to remove "Per Latest State Building Code" and provide the specific design loads used for the roof framing and the mezzanine framing. Per the submitted calculation package, these loads are 20 psf and 100 psf respectively. 4. F001 - GEOTECHNICAL REPORT: The geotechnical report indicated on the structural general notes does not match the geotechnical report submitted on November 27, 2023. Please update the general notes to comply with the submitted report. This includes the company name on the report, the date the report was published and the engineer's findings for allowable bearing pressure (2,000 psf per the report and the included structural calculations). 5. F001 - DEFERRED SUBMITTALS: Per the 2018 IBC Section 107.3.4.1, the construction documents shall list all items that will be reviewed as deferred submittals. Please confirm that the pre-engineered metal building engineer will be responsible for design of the access stairs and handrails at the mezzanine level. If the stairs and handrails are being provided by a specialty engineer, please add a note to the structural general notes and provide any design loads as necessary. 6. F002 - SPECIAL INSPECTIONS: The structural general notes indicate minimum special inspections for concrete and masonry construction. Because the scope of work also includes foundations and structural steel construction, please list the minimum inspections required for these disciplines per the 2018 IBC, Section 1705 and the AISC. 7. F003 - FOUNDATION DESIGN: The spread footing sizes indicated on the Foundation Plan do not match the results of the calculation package, Pages 12 & 17 submitted on November 27, 2023. Please revise the foundation plan to match the foundation sizes indicated by Churches Engineering. 8. STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS - ENGINEER'S SEAL: Per the Arizona Statutes governing engineer seals, the signing engineer must provide a date below his or her seal where it appears on the structural calculation package. Please resubmit with the date indicated. 9. STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS - OUTDATED DRAWINGS: The submitted structural calculation package includes references to an outdated building geometry. Refer to Pages 1, 2, 10 & 11 for more information. Please resubmit the calculation package, revising or removing references to previous design layouts. 10. STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS - CURRENT CODE: The current code adopted by the City of Tucson is the 2018 International Building Code. On page 5 of the calculation package, there is a wind diagram pulled from the ASCE 7- 02, which is outdated. Please revise the calculation package to indicate the current code and to comply with all its axillary codes, including the ASCE 7-16.
