The ventilation requirement for beauty salons per Table 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018, requires 20 CFM of outside air per person and 0.12 CFM per square foot of salon area for 2439 CFM of outside air for the salon area. With a minimum ventilation efficiency of 0.71, the total amount of outside air for the suite is 3434 CFM (Section 403.3.1.1.2.3.2, IMC 2018). The submitted calculations were based on 7.5 CFM of outside air per person and 0.12 CFM per square foot of salon area yielding 1207 CFM of outside air for just the salon area. In addition, the submitted calculations specified 800 CFM of outside air from each of the two existing heat pumps but noted that only 1200 CFM was to be provided. The air balance report showed that actually only 756 CFM of outside air was provided for the whole suite, less than a quarter of the required amount of outside air for compliance with the code requirement. 2. The ventilation requirement for beauty salons per Table 403.3.1.1, IMC 2018, requires 0.6 CFM per square foot of exhaust, for a total of 2360 CFM. The design shows no exhaust for the salon area. |
