COMMENTS:

1. No valid Certificate of Occupancy was found for the previous Hair Salon. Permit # T12OT00119 for the previous Hair Salon is shown as void.
a. Provide mechanical plans. The plans shall identify all existing mechanical equipment, ceiling supply diffusers, return air grilles, exhaust fans (with the rated CFM), etc. (IBC 2024, Section 107.2.1)
b. Provide heating and cooling load calculations to verify the capacity of the existing unit, and include the equipment specifications on the drawing. (IECC 2018, Sections C403.3.1 and C403.2.2)
c. Provide an outdoor air ventilation schedule. Demonstrate that the mechanical system is designed to supply the minimum required outdoor airflow rate in accordance with code. (IMC 2024, Section 403.3.1.1)

COMMENTS:

1. Please show all new and existing waste piping, vent piping, and water piping serving the plumbing fixtures and equipment on a waste and vent diagram, and a water riser diagram. Reference: Section 107.2.1, 2024 IBC.
2. Coffee shops utilize milk and other dairy products, therefore, the 3-compartment sink, hand sink, and service sink are required to discharge through a grease interceptor. This requirement may be appealed to RWRD. Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2024, as amended by the City of Tucson.
a. Hand sinks in the kitchen area are allowed to connect to the sanitary waste system instead of the grease waste system only if each sink has a sign posted above it stating, “HANDWASH SINK ONLY! NO FOOD PREPARATION OR DISHWASHING ALLOWED.” Please provide signage at both hand sink locations indicating that the sinks are to be used for handwashing only. Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2024, as amended by the City of Tucson.
b. If the 3-compartment sink is used only for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing utensils used for food service, the sink shall drain indirectly to the grease interceptor with an air gap or an air break. Reference: Sections 801.2, 802.1.1, and 802.1.7, IPC 2024.
3. Please provide a detail for the funnel drain and 3-compartment sink showing the indirect waste connection with the required air gap. Reference: Sections 802.1.7, IPC 2024.
4. The lavatory in the bathroom is being relocated. Please show there is a metering faucet for the lavatory, dispensing a maximum of 0.25 gallons per metering cycle. Verify that the faucet cycle will last for at least 10 seconds. Reference: Section 412.13, IPC 2024, as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 606.4, ICC/ANSI A117.1-09.
5. Drop in Hand Sink (#9) is not specified in the equipment schedule on Sheet PE1. Please specify if this is new or existing?
6. Verify that the distance from the hot water source to the hot water termination for the lavatory complies with the requirements of Section C404.5, IECC 2018 (e.g., 24” for ½” hot water supply piping).
