Pedestrian Gate Accessibility The submitted plans do not provide sufficient information to demonstrate compliance with accessibility requirements for the proposed pedestrian gate. Please revise the plans to address the following in accordance with 2024 IBC Section 1104 and the 2017 ICC A117.1: A. Clear Width (Section 404.2.2) Provide a minimum clear opening width of 32 inches measured between the face of gate and stop, with the door open 90 degrees. B. Maneuvering Clearance (Section 404.2.3.2): Provide a minimum 18-inch maneuvering clearance at the front approach on the pull side of the gate. C. Door and Gate Hardware (Section 404.2.6): Provide details demonstrating that all hardware (handles, pulls, latches, locks, and other operable parts): Are operable with one hand and do not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. Comply with the following operational force limits: 15 pounds maximum for forward pushing or pulling motion. 28 inch-pounds maximum for rotational motion. D. Hardware Height (Section 404.2.6.1): Provide dimensions indicating that operable hardware is installed not less than 34 inches and not more than 48 inches above the finished floor or ground surface. E. Gate Surface (Section 404.2.9): Provide details showing a smooth surface on the push side of the gate extending the full width within 10 inches of the bottom of the gate to prevent wheelchair footrests from catching.
